Archery at Sherwood

In case you hadn’t heard…the legendary forest of Sherwood is home to a great many skilled archers. Best in all the world, in fact, if their boasts at The Lionheart Tavern be half true! Robin Hood has set the bar mighty high for his fellow Sherwoodians, and travelers like yourself arrive daily to try their aim against these legendary sharpshooters. In fact, you’ll have a chance to shoot a longbow not twenty paces from the front gate, and several places farther down the path.

This day’s faire shall also see a number of archery tournaments. If you wish to join in one of these competitions, you’ll need a period costume, some traditional bow and arrow gear—which can be procured at several of Sherwood’s merchant Shoppes—and you must qualify as an able archer at one of several stations before the shoot.

But you need not get all geared up, nor will you have to qualify just to shoot some arrows. Sherwood Forest Faire has several come-as-you-are archery ranges, where you shall be provided all the gear you need for a round or three of practice. Below you’ll find a guide to all things Archery at Sherwood: Shops, tournaments, and bow and arrow ranges where you can join in the fun!

Longbows Range

Booth #4269

Once inside the Front Gate of Sherwood Forest Faire, you’ll find the Longbows Range deep inside Pirate Territory. With over 45 feet of practice space, this is the range with the most room to shoot. Kids of all ages and adults of all skill levels can try their hand at Robin Hood’s favorite sport – archery! This bow and arrow range sits beneath the eaves of Sherwood Forest’s canopy of ancient trees. So come shoot like the legendary outlaws of Sherwood did 800 years ago!
