Sherwood Forest Faire invites all public, private and home school educators and students to join us for our first annual Student Day, when our faire is open only to teachers and students! Students step back in time as they enter the sights and sounds of Sherwood Forest, an imagined recreation of what a medieval English village existing in and among the trees might have looked like.
Students will interact with historically or fantastically costumed characters representing culture, art, science and literature of the medieval period. Archers, jousting knights, musicians, jesters, and magicians perform on stages and arenas throughout the village. Students will have the opportunity to learn courtly dances, the ancient art of falconry, and the history of archery. Artisans in period dress illustrate the technological advances of the medieval and Renaissance age through live demonstrations in pottery, glass blowing, blacksmithing, armor making and other arts and trades. Watch plays and scenes or listen to beautiful music performed by student actors, choirs, orchestras, and bands on stages throughout the village; cheer on the trebuchet competitors at the jousting arena.
Teachers/Educators: Information packets and registration forms for theatre scenes, choirs, orchestras, bands, and trebuchet are available using the links below. These contests are open to public, private, and homeschool students.
