Andrew McKee

An accomplished and relentless multi-instrumentalist, Andrew McKee will be roaming the stages and lanes of Sherwood Forest all season this year. He’ll spend the day performing solo, as well as jamming with other musicians like Alan a Dale, and sharing songs with the faery folk around Sherwood Forest. And on our 4th and 5th weekends, Andrew will join with his long-time accomplice, Marc Gunn, for 5 special performances of the Brobdingnagian Bards!

The Bedlam Bards

Adults only for 30-Dirty shows

This rowdy, roisterous pair of Celtic Minstrels will compel you to get up and cut a jig. Find them at venues around the shire playing familiar Celtic tunes in their own rustic style as well as originals. And if you are ready for some unrefined chuckles, make sure to catch them at The Three Stags Pub playing their 30-dirty 18 and up shows. The Bedlam Bards will also lead Sherwood’s Pub Sing at day’s end each evening of the faire.
The Bedlam Bards

Bettina Bawdeville

Mar 2-3 – New this Season!

This bawdy bard cut her teeth as a master of ceremonies in taverns hither, thither and yon! She hath bemused many a barroom with scandalous songs and unabashed brazen banter. Catch a bit of her naughtiness at The Three Stags Pub on Sherwood’s first weekend.
The Bedlam Bards

Bianco Fiore

Mar 2 – 24

Bianca Bianco and Lorenzo Fiore perform as the musical duo Bianco Fiore, bringing you traditional Medieval and Renaissance melodies, as well as original melodies in the medieval style. These two buon musicistas play on classical guitar, whistle, drum, and other period instruments, interweaving hauntingly beautiful songs and sprightly merry tunes that will have you dancing the steps of a Volta. Find them in the lanes and at Maid Marian’s Chapel throughout the day.
The Bedlam Bards

Brobdingnagian Bards

Mar 22 - 31

Once upon a time… a Celtic duo known as Brobdingnagian Bards performed coast-to-coast; and in a given could be found performing at Lord of the Rings Oscar Parties, Celtic festivals, or Sci-Fi Conventions. But, first and foremost, they were an absolute favorite at Renaissance Faires where they played in rain, shine, wind rain and cold, always with high-energy and “rye” Irish wit to make every show a memorable experience.  Marc and Andrew shall play for you at Sherwood Forest Faire on our third and fourth weekends.
The Bedlam Bards

The Cor Bellydance

This group of dancers, singers, and drummers carries on the ancient tradition of the traveling troupe.  Just as the 'Ghawazi' dancers of Egypt captured the attention of travelers in ancient lands, the dancers of "The Cor" enchant audiences today - with spiritual rhythms… and a healthy dose of sass.  A hand-picked selection of dancers and musicians come together across several genres of Bellydance to deliver powerhouse performances.  With Scimitars, comedy drum-solos, and balancing acts, The Cor engages audiences of all ages.
The Bedlam Bards

The CRAIC Show

Apr 6 - 21

The CRAIC Show is an intense and wildly entertaining act made up of four international travelers who, in 1191, banded together on an ancient battlefield. Their unique merging of music from faraway lands brings a sound unlike any other. Watching the group switch and interchange instruments throughout the show is a sight to see; songs are often started on pipes and ended with the entire group on percussions.

Irishman Daniel O'Ryan leads this group with roguish vocals, rhythmic mandolin, and intense bagpipes, paired up with the enchanting Rina Von Adams playing harmonizing violin. The energy and enthusiasm of Cockney mate, Dylan Copperpot, on percussions is anchored with strong vocals and the heavy bass drum of the Nordic beauty, Tonya Den Norse.

Ever-evolving and constantly blending styles, The CRAIC Show always brings a fresh, high energy blend of World Medieval Music. Come hear them for yourself on Sherwood’s final 3 weekends this year at the Lionheart Tavern.
The CRAIC Show

Drum Classes & Drum Jam with Joachim and Phrank

Joachim Morrisey and Phrank Bramlitt will lead daily Drum Classes, and the end-of-the-day Drum Jam at the Seven Sisters Sacred Stone Circle. Throughout the day, these masters of the percussive arts will teach you how to find your own inner rhythm. Then, near days’ end, they shall lead the drummers of the forest in a circle of drums like none other to celebrate another great day at the faire. Follow the sound of drums deep into the forest, where you will be surrounded by the ancient rhythms of the spirits of Sherwood. If you have a drum of your own, may you come and join the cadence, led by two young percussion virtuosos. Come dance and play as we close the day with the sound of rolling thunder! Find the drum masters at the Seven Sisters Sacred Stone Circle each day of the faire.
The Bedlam Bards

The Dublin Harpers

Come visit the family that makes music together every day. The Dublin Harpers family band will enchant you at the Lionheart Tavern each day of the faire. This family of kids, teenagers, and a very cool Mom and Dad, design and build their own instruments including the harps which they practice and teach near and far. Candyce and Benjamin Dunham have formed the perfect union of drum and harp. Benjamin, a luthier, percussionist, and bodhran player has been building, refinishing, and repairing instruments for many years. Candyce has been studying, performing, and teaching harp her entire life in the Classical, Irish, and Scottish methods. And, as you have guessed, the young Dublin Harpers have been at it their whole lives, too! Join them every day at the Lionheart Pub for a magical concert!
The Dublin Harpers

Faire to Middlin

Mar 2 – 24

Gil Faire and Mab Middlin perform as the musical duo Faire to Middlin; two lively, world-traveled minstrels who accompany themselves with classical guitar, Irish whistle, and mandolin. They bring you a mix of the traditional and original with rollicking toe-tappers, lyrical ballads, and mournful laments. Join in the fun with this delightful, creative, and often zany couple of musicians in love. Sing, dance, and laugh along with them at the Grove Stage and other venues around the village on the first 4 weekends in March.
Faire to Middlin

Filipe Sanchez

A royal subject of King Richard and his beautiful Queen Berengaria, Felipe Sanchez travelled from Spain with the Queen when she married the Lionheart several years ago to become the official musico of the Royal Court of England. On stage or in the lanes, this Latin lover shall serenade you as royalty too if you can catch his wandering eye. His yearning Spanish Guitar and his lilting Basque accent has been known to dry the tears of crying babies. Some call him the “Falcon of Navarre” – and others have called him an obnoxiously romantic Spaniard who serenades ladies and couples in hopes of earning a few doubloons. Find this musico guapo on the Kings Lane Stage and busking the lanes and other stages as a solo act.
Filipe Sanchez

The Great Antone

This nomadic musician of distant Darbukistan could be found in any part of the village, playing his bouzouki under the shade of Sherwood’s majestic canopy of trees. You’ll also hear his steady rhythms all throughout the season at the Jousting Show with New Riders of the Golden Age. The Great Antone will also join in with various fellow musicians on the lanes and stages, drumming for King Richard’s Army in the Castle Siege, as well as setting the pace for the 1:00pm Parade, and leading the patrons to the front gate each day for a bittersweet farewell.
The Great Antone

The Hands of Fatima

Now at the Elven Hill Stage

Feel the rhythm of distant lands and ancient cultures with this tribe of mystics. The Hands of Fatima belly dancers spin, sway, and swirl for you as their ensemble of gypsy minstrels translate these alluring dances into song. The mysteries of the body, mind, and soul coalesce in a profusion of music and dance just outside of the Puffin tea shop and hookah lounge. Just follow the sound of Gypsy magic to the Elven Hill Stage. They shall also appear from time to time, dancing atop the Round Table of King Richard’s knights, the Dragons of the Round.
The Bedlam Bards

Il Musicista Giacomo

Absent Mar 16 – 17

Carl Asch, leader of renfaire musical favorites Empty Hats and Tip the Velvet, embodies Giacomo the Jester at Sherwood. When he is not throwing knives at his juggling partner, Paolo Gabanzo, or performing solo at the Greenwoode Theatre, he can be found strolling the lanes with his lute, singing and playing at special events, like weddings and Robin’s Feast. This witty, smooth-talking lyrical genius will brighten up your day with a song or three if you catch him before he starts fooling around with sharp objects again…

Klaus of Hamlin

At his shoppe, Medieval Moccasins, in the Gypsy Encampment near the Joust Arena

Klaus Weiland, once an up-and-coming star of the German folk-rock scene who “disappeared” to India at the height of his stardom, has turned up in medieval Nottingham at Sherwood Forest Faire. Most of his fans from the days of yore still wonder where he may be, but you will be lucky enough to find his lovely voice and lilting guitar here in this very forest! Klaus holds court daily at his family shoe shop, Medieval Moccasins, not far from the Joust Arena.
Klaus of Hamlin

Ky Hote

Apr 20 - 21

Beware Lords and Ladies of the “Most Dangerous Guitar Player” of the renaissance circuit. He seems nice enough, but there is something piratical beneath his Gypsy Smile. Stop and enjoy this wandering minstrel’s distinctive and dynamic approach to the acoustic guitar. See this hot-shot guitarist at The Three Stags Pub and other spots around the map.
The Bedlam Bards

Master “Bones” Jangle and the Voodoo Island Cannibals

Mar 2 – 17

Master "Bones" Jangle is a Shantyman by trade, but the position of ship’s surgeon was the only one available, so he accepted, and took on his new duties with incredible enthusiasm… and though the ship’s crew seemed to dwindle, both in limbs and in numbers, the ship’s cook was suddenly able to feed them all handsomely ever since Bones was commissioned as loblolly. After some months at sea, what was left of the HANDS on the ship finally realized something was AFOOT. They knew if they wanted to MUSCLE on as sailors any longer, they would have to STOMACH the EERIE prospect of living as cannibals. Although the surgeon and the crew BUTTED HEADS when Bones claimed to be captain, he was able to persuade them to keep some SKIN in the game; nor did it cost him an ARM and a LEG. EYEING the Barbary Coast, Bones managed to FLESH out an idea to teach the remaining crew to play music so that they might MEET locals with a NOSE for the finer things in life – and later would have them for dinner in the ship’s galley. Despite the band’s popularity they have to keep moving in order to maintain a following. Now Master “Bones” Jangle and the Voodoo Island Cannibals have arrived in England to play music for all of you at the Elven Hill Stage on Sherwood’s first three weekends. Come lend an EAR… if you’ve got the GUTS!
